Wolfe Creek Photo Safari Guided Walking Tour
Wolfe Creek Photo Safari Guided Walking Tour
Step outside of your normal routine and onto our hiking trail, a gently meandering path that showcases some of the most beautiful aspects of Wolfe Creek Preserve. After signing up for our Wolfe Creek Photo Safari Guided Walking Tour, you’ll meet the ecologically-knowledgeable guide who will begin the tour by riding with you to the top of Wolfe Mountain in one of our Pinzgauer Swiss Army Troop Carriers.
As soon as you set foot onto the trail you’ll know you’re somewhere special. 100-foot tall, 200-year old white oaks are dispersed throughout seemingly endless clusters of ash, oak, and dogwood trees. Gray and red squirrels fling themselves from branch to branch overhead while armadillos, deer, raccoons, and chipmunks mosey through the brush below, foraging for food. Wildflowers spring up alongside the trail and near the creek that slowly trickles through the property. Historic bridges and mining implements are evidence of early settlers, as are the stories and legends that your guide will tell you about the original owners of the property, the Wolfe Family, as you make your way down the trail.
After walking to the mid-point of the trail at a pace comfortable to you, fellow hikers, you, and your guide will take a mid-mountain snack break. Enjoy a refreshing water, energizing snack, and the peaceful sounds of nature during your relaxing break. Along with enjoying the company of your guide and fellow hikers, you’ll also have the chance to meet up with family or friends who opted to take the Ozarks Xplorer Canopy Tour as they’ll have a break at the same spot as you. The ability to coordinate a meeting midway through our hiking and zip lining tours is a feature of our world class facility that enables family and friends of all ages to share in the beauty of the outdoors together by participating in activities that suit each individuals needs.
Once you’ve rested and enjoyed the company of your fellow hikers and guide, you’ll continue down the mountain to complete the remaining half of the hike. On the way, your guide will continue to share fascinating insight about the ecology of the land, historical stories that pertain to relevant landmarks, and any other information that you’d like to know. In addition to pointing out species such as winged elm trees or box turtles, your guide can point out various points on the trail where the zipline course is easily seen. Watch for friends and family flying through the air, pause to snap photographs of loved ones, or just enjoy the sight of fellow guests soaring through true-blue skies. No matter what day you hike with us, there’s always something to discover!
The tour lasts approximately one and a half hours but we like to think that guests should emulate nature and enjoy the hike at whatever speed they choose. Additionally, time spans of tours can vary depending on whether or not you elect to follow a ziplining tour in order to watch family or friends as they soar through the sky. No matter what your objective is for the hike (spend an afternoon outdoors, provide a fun experience for a child too light to zipline, learn more about the ecology of the Ozarks, etc.) our guides want to provide an outdoor experience that suits you best! Our guides are accommodating, knowledgeable, and always enthusiastic to share the beauty of the property that we’ve taken much care to preserve so that everyone who visits now and in the future can enjoy a world class eco adventure!
